Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
1 Kings 18:17
When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”
Three years earlier, the prophet Elijah had declared a famine and a drought over the land of Israel. Things had gotten so bad that Ahab, the king, was having a hard time keeping his own animals fed and watered. God told Elijah to meet with Ahab and that He was going to make it rain again. When Ahab, the wicked King of Israel, saw Elijah, he called the man of God the “Troubler Of Israel!”
Isn’t it just a wonder that at the end of the day the devil’s crowd seems to always associate we “Followers Of Jesus” as the trouble makers in their lives? We’re the ones who feed the hungry, clothe those who are poverty stricken, visit the sick, and go to those who are imprisoned, and still we’re the “Trouble Makers” in their opinion. Here was Elijah, the man of God. The prophet through whom God communicated His truth to the people of Israel, yet he’d been hiding in private to escape the wrath of Ahab and his prophet-killing wife Jezebel. Elijah was there to let Ahab know that God was going to remove the drought and make it rain again, but before he could Ahab took a shot at him and called him Israel’s troubler. Not much has changed today. “That’s What The World Thinks Of Us!” We’re considered the troublers in our nation. But don’t give up, my friend, because the scripture says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up!” (Gal. 6:9). No matter what the world thinks of us, we must keep on doing good!
Thanks this AM for strength in keeping on doing good. With Your help I will not quit! Amen
