Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant what I hope for.
Job was a desperate man when he prayed this prayer. In fact, if you read the next verse you will see he wanted God to annihilate him. He had been terribly afflicted by Satan under God’s watchful eye. Consequently, he begged God to answer his prayer.
If you read past Job chapter 6, clear to the end of the “Book of Job,” like me you will say … “Don’t Pray For That!” In the most “Trying of Times,” with the “Most Committed Individuals,” there’s still the real possibility that we can “Crack Under Pressure.” When a Follower of Jesus begins to Crack Under Pressure, one needs to be reminded of the words of St. Paul, “God will never allow us to come under more temptation than we can handle, but will, in those times make a way for us to escape” (1 Cor. 10:13). Along with that promise we must remind ourselves that whenever we’re tempted to pray “Crazy Prayers,” we should say … “Don’t Pray For That!” At the end of Job’s life he was so blessed that he said to The Lord, “Surely I spoke of things I did not understand” (Job 42:3b). Today’s TRANSLATION … “Thank YOU Lord For Not Answering My Prayer!”
I can remember times in my life that I prayed the same prayer as Job. “Oh God please take my life, I can’t handle it anymore.” I’m so blessed today that all I can say is … “Thank YOU Lord For Not Answering My Prayer!” Amen
