Take Courage
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 14:27
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
O-bservation:
Jesus had told His disciples to get in the boat and go to the other side. He was finishing up dismissing the crowd, and He told them He would join them later. He then went to the mountain to pray. Late that night, a terrible storm came up on the Sea of Galilee, and the disciples feared for their lives. It was then that Jesus appeared to them walking on the water. He said, “Take Courage, I’m here now.”
A-pplication:
Regardless of how good life ever gets or how good you’ve ever had it in the past, storms will come. That is an undeniable truth. If, for some reason, you disagree, all I can say is you haven’t lived very long. Storms are what build character and courage in a person. Maybe you’re a single mother, or you’re in the armed forces in a strange place. As you read this, the truth is that Jesus is with you in whatever storm you are challenged with. Still, at this writing, we are quarantined the world over because of the Covid-19 coronavirus. Fifty years from now, people may laugh at this event, but I can tell you no one is laughing right now. For the world, it’s “Storm Time.” But if you can turn the news off for just a minute, you will hear Him. It’s a voice in the distance. Wait, He’s yelling something! Yes, that’s it. I can clearly hear the words, “Take Courage.” Why of course we’re in a storm, and once again, Jesus is right here with us.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I will once again follow Your instructions. I will simply look to You again, and when I do, it will give me cause to “Take Courage.” Amen
