Sun Stand Still

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Joshua 10:13

So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies.

O-bservation:

The Gibeonites, who were the servants of Israel, had cried to Joshua and the army of Israel to save them because the five kings of the Amorites were assembling in order to destroy them and take their possessions. Joshua responds by marching all night to where the Amorites were camped, and the Lord gave them into Joshua’s hand. Along the way, Joshua asked the Lord and said, “Sun Stand Still,” and indeed, the Lord stopped the sun so that the Israelis could complete the rout before night came upon them.

A-pplication:

Before we go any further in this devotional for this AM, I want to remind you that the same God we’re going to pray to in a minute is the same God that answered Joshua’s prayer and stopped the sun in the sky! I’ve heard every explanation about how this could have happened back then, but I choose to believe that if God is all-powerful, then He can certainly stop the sun and moon in the sky and suspend the laws of physics and still control the universe to answer His children’s cry. If He did the unimaginable for Joshua way back then, what could possibly be too difficult for our God to do for you and me today? “Sun Stand Still” is a well-known cry to the God of the universe uttered by just one man, and God answered. I’m begging you right now to cry to your great God this AM, and I promise You He will hear and answer your cry!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I have NO DOUBT in my mind that You did exactly what the Old Testament said You did. Today I have a friend who is reading this word, and they have their own quick-moving SUN. I ask You on their behalf, to stand their sun still and bring them a miracle today! Amen
