Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
The purpose of this letter by Paul to the Christians in Galatia was to get them “Back On Track.” They had started as “Followers Of Jesus” by living according to the daily direction of the Holy Spirit. But now they had somehow retreated to their “BC” way of doing things. Paul said, “If you say you live by the Spirit, then keep following the Spirit everyday.”
When Jeremiah said, “The mercies of God are NEW every morning” (Lam. 3:23), he was suggesting a precursor to “Life In The Spirit.” When you try to lock the Holy Spirit into a routine, “You Lose!” Why? Because although our God is a God of order, it’s also true that … “His ways are past finding out” (Rom. 11:33). We are not here for the Holy Spirit to follow us around all day. On the contrary, we are here to follow the Holy Spirit. So the onus is always on us to find out what the Holy Spirit is up to and then “Step Up” to His way and not our way. In order to be led by the Holy Spirit, we have to “WANT” to be led by the Holy Spirit. So when it comes to “Life In The Spirit,” it’s all about two words … “Step Up!”
I admit, without You I don’t have a clue what to do. With Your help today, I will “Step Up” to follow You again. Amen
