Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness.
This short verse follows the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Once Jesus came out of the water, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove came to rest upon the Lord, and God the Father said, “This is my son and I am well pleased with Him.” Immediately the Bible says that Jesus was “Spirit Led” into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He was in that situation for 40 days and nights, and the Bible says He was with wild animals the entire time. Fortunately, heavenly angels came and attended unto Jesus.
Being “Spirit Led” doesn’t always mean you will be led into green pastures. This story tells us that Jesus, the Son of God, was “Spirit Led” into a very tough mountainous region in the Judean wilderness, where wild animals surrounded Him for 40 days and nights. Immediately after the exhilaration of being baptized, and the Holy Spirit coming on Him, and His Father’s pronouncement that His Son had pleased Him well, all hell breaks loose in His life. Why? Whenever you reach spiritual highs in the kingdom of God, get ready because a testing is on the way. It may break you, but it could very well make you. Always remember the testing of Jesus was necessary before He was to begin His earthly ministry. It’s also necessary for you and me. And all of it will be “Spirit Led.”
With Your help, I’ll never reject the Spirit of the Lord’s leadership in my life. I can’t make it without being “Spirit Led.” Amen
