Sometimes You Won’t Even Know Where You’re Going

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Hebrews 11:8

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

The writer reminds us that when God told Abraham to leave his home in Haran with his wife and nephew, he didn’t have a clue where he was headed. He just obeyed God’s command.

Most of us never leave our house or apartment in the morning without knowing where we’re going. Seldom have any of us gotten in our car and just started driving until we ran out of gas, with no destination in mind. I have made four definite moves in my adult life that I felt the Lord told me to make. However, I really didn’t know much about where the moves would lead, I just knew I had to go. By the grace of God, each move brought tremendous experience and led to the “next thing,” but even the “next thing” wasn’t a done deal. Each “next thing” for me has meant obedience. It seems that the obedience is what leads you to life’s gold. Every one of those four major moves I’ve made in my life I found God’s gold in time. What I’ve learned about the walk of faith is that just like Abraham when you obey God “Sometimes You Won’t Even Know Where You’re Going!”

Dear Jesus,

It’s not so important to me anymore that I know where I’m going when you speak to me. What is important to me is that I obey. I’m ready Lord. Amen
