Something Beautiful From Something Broken

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Chronicles 3:1

Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.

Sometime earlier, David had sinned in numbering the fighting soldiers of Israel. God sent a plague and struck down 70,000 men of Israel because of David’s sin! David begged for the Lord to relent. God sent him to Araunah the Jebusite, who was threshing wheat, and David said, “I want to buy your entire place and I will pay you handsomely for it because I won’t offer to the Lord something that doesn’t cost me something.” So David paid almost $200,000 for the property. That’s the location David offered burnt sacrifices of repentance to the Lord for his sin. The very place David that made sacrifices of repentance is the location Solomon, David’s son, chose to build the temple of the Lord.

This is the story of redemption, even though it has to do with a piece of dirt. The place David purchased to atone for his sins is the place that, in time, became the location for the atonement of many people’s sins. That’s the way the Lord works. He turns our failures into long term successes when we acknowledge Him. In this story of David’s repentance for his sin, we learn that our great God can always make “Something Beautiful From Something Broken.”

Dear Jesus,

This AM I am acknowledging that in God’s time, nothing is wasted. If I allow You to, my greatest failures can be turned around for Your greater glory. Amen
