Show Us Your Power, Oh Lord!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Psalm 68:28

Summon your power, God; show us your strength, our God, as you have done before.

Here, the great King David, ruler of Israel, asked the Lord of Heaven and Earth for a demonstration of the power of God. He says, “Show Us Your Power, Oh Lord!”

When I was a young boy, I remember hanging with other little guys my age and getting into huge arguments over who’s Dad was stronger. I’d get so frustrated that I would finally say, “I’d just love to see you bring your Dad down here, because my Dad could whip your Dad in a second!” In a way, you get the feeling that that is exactly what King David was saying here about the Lord. He wanted God to show Himself strong on Israel’s behalf, like He had before.  However, if you’re like me, I’m not so concerned with what David was asking God for then. I’m more interested in what I need God to do right here, right now. What is it that you are facing? Debt, discouragement, doubt, disillusionment? I’ve been there. Why not join me and say, “Show Us Your Power, Oh Lord!”

Dear Jesus,

I’m so thankful this AM that Your Power is still on display in my day. It’s more than only destructive acts of nature, it can also be seen when a dad comes home from war to hug his family. Today I’m asking, please, “Show Us Your Power, Oh Lord!” Amen
