My Shepherd

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 7:17a

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd.

O-bservation:

The book of the Revelation was written by John the Beloved. It’s a result of a vision God gave him concerning the end times. As he looked into heaven he saw the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Jesus, at the center of the throne of God. Even though He is God, here we see John calling Him “The Shepherd.”

A-pplication:

King David always saw Jesus as the Shepherd. We read in the 23rd Psalm, “The Lord is my Shepherd.” However, even more compelling than that is the fact that Jesus referred to Himself in the same fashion. He said, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for His sheep” (John 10:11). When I think of a shepherd I think of the peaceful, caring, loving, concerned one, who stands against every foe of any sheep under his care. That is the perfect description of our loving Savior, Jesus. Others are caught sound asleep, or in pursuit of something other than the care of those they have been given supervision over. But our blessed Jesus, the “Good Shepherd,” stands watch, never slumbering and never sleeping. This continues until every stray sheep is back in the fold. With this as my continual thought, Jesus is not someone else’s Shepherd … He is “My Shepherd.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m thankful this AM that You are “My Shepherd.” When others have left me or have been caught napping, you have always stood wide awake as my loving protector! I’m Yours. Amen

  1. I think of the Lord for the time of prayers then I run here and there, with my business. Jesus, in the contrary, always watches over me because He is my good shepherd. What an awesome God, Jehovah Jirah, my provider!
