Running Won’t Help

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Jonah 1:3a

But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.

O-bservation:

Most people of Judeo-Christian faith know about the story of Jonah and the whale. The story begins with this one act of disobedience. God wanted Jonah to preach in Nineveh, but Jonah didn’t want to and ran away from the Lord toward Tarshish.

A-pplication:

Trouble always awaits you on the other side of disobedience. When Jonah ran away from God, he hopped a ship headed for Tarshish. A storm came up and Jonah knew he was the cause. He had the Captain and his men throw him overboard and immediately the storm ceased, but a large fish swallowed Jonah. That spelled “TROUBLE!” God has a purpose for each and every one of us. Quite often, the purpose He has planned rubs some the wrong way. But here’s the deal … Jesus knows us. He made us. He knows what will bring us our greatest fulfillment and joy in this life. We didn’t make us; instead we were made. We don’t even remember anything until about three years of age. Yet our great God watched over us, grew us, fit us all together, and “He knows the way we should take” (Job 23:10). Perhaps you’re struggling to follow the plan this AM, please hear me … “RUNNING WON’T HELP!” What I’ve learned is, “Just Do It!” The joy of doing Jesus’ will outweighs the trouble found on the other side of disobedience

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I want to joyfully jump into Your plan for my life. I’ve had enough trouble. Joy is what I’m looking for. Thanks for Your forgiveness along the way. Amen

  1. When I tell my children to do this instead of that, it is because I see the big picture as I had the experience. I image that God has the same.expertise as He is all and knows the future. I try to follow my heart because it is where God speaks to me.
