Remember Me, Oh Lord

Nehemiah 5:19

Remember me with favor, my God, for all I have done for these people.

As Nehemiah’s time as governor of Judah was coming to an end, he asked the Lord to remember him with favor for what he had done for the people of God in Judah.

This was a solemn prayer of Nehemiah. He had rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem and had obeyed the King’s orders explicitly. Never in the process of being governor had he taken the food the king had allowed for him. Instead he raised up leaders and together they made things happen seemingly out of nothing. He did not acquire land while in Judah. He set the place in order spiritually and even came back again to lead another revival. He only had one request of the Almighty. He said, “Remember Me, Oh Lord.” He didn’t care for more houses or lands or cash. No! He wanted the favor of the Lord. He was like any child who wants their daddy to be thankful for them. What about you, today? If you’re like me, you’re probably asking God most every day to “Remember Me, Oh Lord.”

Dear Jesus,

Remember me with favor today, Oh Lord. Amen
