Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”
One day, during an intense religious ceremony ordered by the Lord, Moses took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. When Moses finished reading it, the people said, “We promise we will do everything that the Lord has commanded us. We will obey!”
When you first read the people’s response, and you know how many times the people of Israel continually rebelled against the Lord, usually, if you’re like me, you say, “REALLY?” In other words, whether you’re one of the Old Testament Israelites or you’re a New Testament Miami Christian, sometimes our promises to God don’t mean much. I pray every day to be a better man. I want to be a better Christian. I want to be a better husband, father, and friend, but sometimes I fail. Do you ever think that God looks down on us, and with all of our promises, He may say, “REALLY?” You know what? I don’t think HE does. Why? Because I’m a father too. I know my sons have failed in the past, but I’m not expecting them to. The scripture says, “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Cor. 13:7), When my promises are weak, my God never says, “REALLY?”
Thank You for believing in me even though I’m a weak man with feet of clay. I love You. Your care and concern for me is never accompanied by a REALLY? Amen
