Raise Your Hand If You Need More Faith
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 17:5
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
O-bservation:
These men who walked with Jesus for three and a half years were by and large men of courage. Think about it. All but one of them would suffer greatly for the Lord in time. Ten of them would die a martyr’s death in time. One would be boiled in oil for Jesus. But here they ask, “Lord, Increase Our Faith!”
A-pplication:
Before I comment on this text, “Raise Your Hand If You Need More Faith!” I don’t care how much I have, I feel like I’m always in need of more faith. On one occasion Jesus said, “According to your faith so be it unto you!” (Mt. 9:29). We know that’s the truth, so we’re always asking for more. Never in my life have I ever felt adequate in my faith to do what God is asking me to do. I’m always in need of more faith. Whether a youth group that was too old for my youthful age, or a traveling ministry by air long before young men and women were doing that, or a church in the inner city at middle age, I’ve always needed more faith. You can usually tell if it’s God calling you in a certain fashion, based on the personal anxiety or fear it brings you. I’m not talking about a hellish fear, I’m talking about the kind of fear that caused Moses to say, “Lord If you don’t go with us, I’m not going” (Ex. 33:15). Oddly enough, that kind of godly concern is what spurs the average person like you and me on. I’ll ask it again, “Raise Your Hand If You Need More Faith!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I have one request this AM … please, “Increase My Faith!” Amen
