PRIDE

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 28:2

Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘In the pride of your heart you say, “I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god in the heart of the seas.” But you are a mere mortal and not a god, though you think you are as wise as a god.

O-bservation:

The Lord is speaking through the prophet Ezekiel against a number of wicked kings upon whom he either was going to bring judgment or had already. This particular king of ancient times was the King known as Ethbaal of Tyre. He ruled an island that had been called “the holy island.” It was impregnable, and all of its colonies looked to it as their seat of worship. He had been cast down and out of that beautiful seat of power by the hand of God for his “PRIDE.” This place and this man date back to as far as 2750 BC.

A-pplication:

It is not my desire to discuss this ancient king known as Ethbaal. It’s important to note why he was brought down and why countless men and women through the course of time have lost their way through this issue of “PRIDE.” It’s just hard to imagine that anyone can come to a place in their life where they believe themselves to be a god. Yet this issue of “PRIDE” is at the seat of it all. It was Lucifer’s demise. It has been the end of Kings and Presidents and despots and CEOs of major companies and working-class folks, and Ministers as well. Anytime we begin to agree with the good that is spoken of us, or in any way take credit for the accolades received, we have begun our own fall. Nothing that ever happens to us that is good comes to us by our own will; it comes from the loving hand of the Almighty. The Lord is calling you and me today to steer clear of “PRIDE” and run the race that is set before us. We do this humbly as we pursue Jesus with our whole heart.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for another day that I can bring people with me to introduce them to You. You alone are the reason I live. Amen
