A Prayer For Your Children

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 2:40

And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

O-bservation:

The writer of this book is Luke, one of St. Paul’s closest friends. He also wrote the book of Acts, and was a medical doctor. If anyone knew about the growth patterns, physical fitness, and mental health of Jesus, it would’ve been the doctor. Luke said that after Jesus was consecrated to the Lord at the temple in Jerusalem, He was taken back to Galilee in Nazareth. In Galilee, Jesus grew strong. He was a child filled with wisdom, and God’s favor was on Him.

A-pplication:

As I pondered this verse this AM, I thought that this was a prayer of my heart for my own children. Then I thought, “Hey, this is the prayer of every parent who really loves and nurtures their children.” I wanted each of my four sons to “Grow Strong.” Physical health and mobility are very important for success in life. Also, as each of my boys were going to school and learning daily, I watched closely to see if they were applying what they had learned in challenging situations. Because Wisdom, or “Knowing what to do with what you Know,” is vital for success in life as well. But most of all, as a “Follower of Jesus,” I want God’s “Grace” or “Favor” to be on my kids. If you haven’t thought of it before, make this verse … “A Prayer For Your Children.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am so thankful this AM that You have, and You continue to answer, “My prayer for my children.” Amen

  1. My prayer for my own children is that they may have meta cognition to seek the presence of God in their heart. This way they will make good choices. They will choose His blessings over what perpetuates a generational curse.
