But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
One day, while still serving his father-in-law Reuel, Moses saw a burning bush. From the bush came the voice of God telling Moses to take off his shoes because he was standing on holy ground. Moses obeyed, and when he did, God said He was calling Moses to go back to Egypt and set His people free. Moses then began making excuses as to why he couldn’t. But God answered each one of his excuses. Finally, Moses was so afraid of what God was calling him to do that he said, “Please … Not ME!”
Have you ever felt that God was calling you to do something way above your pay grade? I know I sure have. But I have learned through the years that when the Lord asks you to do something, He also equips you with supernatural strength and faith to make it happen. We can conjure up more excuses than are imaginable, but in the end, most people of God want to obey their God. That’s what happened to Moses. He ran out of excuses and decided to do what God asked him to do. As for me, I’ve decided to say “YES” to God’s will. There’s way too much drama if I say, “Please … Not ME!”
I think I can understand Moses’ fear; it was a scary moment even for a man of faith. Yet when he did your will, his life turned from, “It’s just about over” to “it’s only just begun.” I’m ready to say yes to any and everything You ask. Amen
