Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Numbers 28:26
On the day of firstfruits, when you present to the Lord an offering of new grain during the Festival of Weeks, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.
O-bservation:
The “Feast of Weeks” was also known as “Pentecost.” It initially took place fifty days after Israel had escaped the bondage of Egypt. The people of God had gathered at the foot of Mt. Sinai, and Moses ascended the mountain to receive the law from God himself. Every year after that, the Israeli people were commanded by the Lord to celebrate this memory with a feast. And on the exact day, they were to hold a sacred assembly and bring their “Pentecost” offering with them.
A-pplication:
THREE major offerings were ordered of the Lord in Numbers 28-29, and they are still to be celebrated by the Jewish people each year. First is the Passover Offering, also known as the “Feast of Unleavened Bread.” This celebration occurs during the Gentile Easter. Second is the “Feast of Weeks,” also known as the “Pentecost” offering. This feast day is 50 days after Passover and usually happens in late May or early June. And finally three feasts in one—The Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement, and The Feast of Tabernacles. These three holy days fall back-to-back and happen in the fall of each year. They fall under the heading of the “Atonement” offering. A friend of mine a number of years ago suggested that I acknowledge the Jewish feast days with offerings each year on each of the Holy Days mentioned. I felt it was a word from the Lord. I can only tell you that our church has grown exponentially since we instituted the celebration into our Gentile Christian services. Most of all, we’ve experienced the New Testament Pentecost as never before.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
It is my joy to celebrate these high Jewish feast days that You instituted thousands of years ago. Your blessings never leave what you initiate! Thank You, my blessed Lord. Amen
