Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
King David was adamant in this passage that he (David) or us (any people of Israel or after) NOT receive any praise or applause or worship—only the Lord should. He said, “Only the Lord is to receive the glory, because of His love and faithfulness.”
By this time in David’s historical Kingship he had received, perhaps, more accolades than any man has ever experienced. Remember, after killing Goliath the giant as a young man the people were screaming “Saul has slain his thousands but David his tens of thousands.” He’d only slain one man! Fortunately, as his fame grew so did his love and praise of our blessed Savior. Somehow King David always remembered where his strength and success was coming from. Today, I’m asking you to join King David and me when people praise you, and just say … “Not To Us!” Only to Jesus, because of His love and faithfulness.
Should any applause come today, help me look up and Praise Your name. Hopefully the praisers will get the point. Amen
