Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.
This verse follows the story of King Herod, who had Peter thrown into prison days before. During Peter’s stay in prison, and while heavily guarded, the church prayed for him. God answered their prayers by sending an angel who walked Peter out of prison in the night hours. When Herod heard of it, he had the guards executed, and he went to stay at his beach place in Caesarea. When he met with a group of people who needed his help, they started the meeting off by telling him he was a god and not a man. Herod refused to give glory to God, and God struck him down, and worms ate him (vs.23)! The Bible says, “But the word of God continued to increase and spread.”
This is a powerful lesson that simply says, “No Matter What,” the word of God will always endure. I think of the 18th-century French philosopher Voltaire, who once stated, “A hundred years from now the Bible will be extinct.” For a hundred years after Voltaire’s death, the French bible society used Voltaire’s house as a printing house for Bibles to be distributed throughout the nation! No one can deny there is a God and get away with it, because death awaits us all, but our great God is eternal and never dies. So “No Matter What” God’s word will endure the past the present and the future that awaits us all. You can trust the word of God today, “No Matter What!”
This AM, I’m so thankful that Your word endures forevermore. “No Matter What,” I will always find help and solace from Your word! Amen
