Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.
Imagine King David, probably the richest man on the planet at the time. Imagine the number of fighting men at his beck and call. Imagine servants twenty-four hours a day. With all that in mind, these are the words of a desperate man. He was a Sovereign King, yet he felt so alone, so needy, that he would rise before dawn and cry to God for help. His only hope was in God.
When you consider the enormous success of King David in a day when information took weeks and months to attain, his accomplishments are nothing short of amazing. It was a time when armies were assembled and trained for war with direct communication from the commander’s mouth. There were no emails, texts, or any social media save word-of-mouth. King David found life not only lonely at the top, but also lonely in a crowd. Numerous wives and concubines and sons and daughters could not in any way provide peace and solace for this mighty man. At times, sleep escaped his eyes and stress filled his soul. But here we see his prescription for success. He found … “No Other HOPE” … save in the confidence he gained in God’s word. Early each morning, he would rise and cry to God. God was his only hope. Today let’s decide to lay aside life’s antidotes for worry and agree together that we have … “No Other Hope” … but Jesus.
Today I agree with my reader right now that … “You Are Our Only HOPE!” Amen.
