Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
This is the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. It all began with a huge challenge. In the middle of His presentation it was time to eat, with perhaps 10 to 15 thousand people or more who were standing there hungry. The 5,000 only represented the men, not the women and children who were also gathered. Jesus asked Philip what in the world they were going to do. But He was testing Philip, because He already knew what He was going to do.
This was one of the many “Mind Games” Jesus engaged in with His disciples during the three and a half years they walked together. Obviously Jesus knew what He was going to do this time and every time, but the question was a test. Philip failed the test by responding with the obvious; “It’s Just Way Over Our Heads” is basically how he responded to Jesus’ challenge. With every Mind Game Jesus engages us in, He’s wanting us to elevate our thinking in order to elevate our living. With every question Jesus asks us, He’s not looking for the obvious. He’s looking for the key that will unlock the impossibility that others are faced with. He’s looking for some bread and fish. He’s looking for some kind of offering that He can multiply. Today, pass the Mind Games by giving Him what you’ve got.
Today I vow to give You what I’ve got so together we can solve the “Mind Game!” Thanks for including me. Amen
