Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
That everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.
While Jesus was teaching the lawyer named Nicodemus, who had come by night to speak with Him, Jesus referenced the story of Moses raising the serpent in the wilderness. God had sent judgment on Israel for her sins and sent poisonous snakes to afflict them. Moses was instructed by the Lord to raise a bronze serpent on a pole and when the people looked on the bronzed serpent they lived. Jesus said that he would have to be lifted up, referring to the Cross, and those who would look to Him and believe would be saved unto eternal life.
Whenever I read this verse, I always think to myself, “Look To Jesus And Live!” All of us were born in sin. It’s a result of Adam and Eve’s original sin. But Jesus came as a second Adam. He died for all humankind, and the only prerequisite for eternal life is believing that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Almighty God we serve. He didn’t say we had to jump through a hundred religious hoops to have eternal life, and He didn’t say we’d have to pay for what we’ve done in our past. He just said that everyone who believes in His name shall have eternal life. The question is, where are we looking today? There’s really only one place to look. “Look To Jesus And Live!”
There are many temptations that would distract me from my vision quest. But I will not be deterred today, my Lord. No! Instead, I will “Look To Jesus And Live!” Amen
