Leaders Must Stand
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Joshua 7:10
The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?”
O-bservation:
This happened in the midst of the great sin of Achan. Joshua did not yet know who had sinned, but he knew that the powerful nation of Israel had just been routed in battle by a small third-class army, known as Ai. Joshua knew they had somehow sinned in the middle of the festivities of taking over the Promised Land. He fell on his face to humble himself, but if you read the passages before this one, you will see that Joshua begins to grovel in the dirt and lose hope. At which point God tells him, “Leaders Must Stand!”
A-pplication:
There’s always a point of humility whenever evil has been committed, whether I’ve personally sinned or it happened on my watch. Joshua was a righteous man, and we really don’t read of him sinning in this book. When someone else on his watch did sin, he knew what to do. Immediately he fell on his face before the Lord in repentance for the sin that had been committed. But then a funny thing happened to Joshua. He forgot all the promises the Lord had given to the Israelites, and he began wallowing in hopelessness before the Lord. This shouldn’t happen for any humble believer in the Lord, but especially not from a leader. God quickly told Joshua to stand up and do his job as a leader! Why? Because Leaders Must Stand!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
There is no one like You. I bow this AM in Your presence to worship You. But with Your help, I’ll never grovel on the ground in hopelessness. I am a child of the Almighty! Amen
