Keep The Lord’s House Close To Your Heart!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Nehemiah 10:39b
“We will not neglect the house of our God.”
O-bservation:
These were the words of Nehemiah as he spoke for the leadership and people of Judah. Upon their return from exile in Babylon, they had rebuilt the walls around the city of Jerusalem. Not long after, the priest Ezra read the law of the Lord before the people, and they repented as a nation. Finally, they promised to reinstitute tithing and first-fruits giving and never to neglect the house of God again.
A-pplication:
Of course, in time, they broke all of the promises made then. Not long after these writings, the Old Testament Jewish story came to an end. There was then 400 years of silence between the Old and New Testaments. When the New Testament opens, King Herod had finally rebuilt the Temple that Nebuchadnezzar had burned to the ground. The burning of the Temple by the Babylonian king had taken place because all of Israel had rebelled against the Lord and had let the Temple become a thing of the past in their lives. Because of their waywardness, they lost what once was so cherished. The house of the Lord where God’s people meet should be cherished and never ever placed down the list of “My most important places.” Whether it’s in an underground basement, or a living room, or a huge mega-church facility, “Keep The Lord’s House Close To Your Heart.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for a place where I can gather with my family of choice to worship You throughout the week. In my case, it’s a lovely building with all the amenities. Help me never to neglect it, as long as I live. Amen
