Keep The Light On

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Exodus 27:20

Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning.

These are the words of the Lord Almighty to Moses concerning the lamp that was to be kept burning in the “Tent Of Meeting” from sundown until sunup. When God gave this law, it was to be forever embedded in the hearts of the Israelis that they were to be LIGHT for people in darkness.

This command was given several thousands of years ago as a way for the Lord to impress upon His people that we are LIGHT! Yes, this was originally given to our Jewish parents, but it is for all believers the world over today. Jesus said we are the “light of the world!” (Matt. 5:14). So even though this verse was about keeping the lamp lit in the Temple, it was really a bigger picture that we are to BE the light when we leave the Temple. I understand that everything we face in the marketplace feels as if our light must certainly be turned off to do business. But the opposite is true. Light makes everything clearer to those who are looking for the right way to move forward. So this AM, and throughout the day and night, whatever you do, make sure you “Keep The Light On!”

Dear Jesus,

I understand that I am moving into darkness this AM even though the sun may be shining outside. Help me be the LIGHT today to whoever I connect with. Whatever I do, it will be to “Keep The Light On.” Amen
