Just Look, He’s Everywhere

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 8:12

He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.

O-bservation:

Jesus had just finished feeding the 4,000 with seven loaves of bread and a few fish. They collected seven basketfuls of leftovers. Earlier He had fed 5,000 with just five loaves and two fish and had twelve basketfuls of leftovers. Now the Pharisees wanted a sign from heaven to prove that Jesus was who He said He was. Jesus sighed, as if to say, “Have you watched anything I’ve done at all? I’m not giving you anymore signs!”

A-pplication:

King David said in Psalm 19:2, “The heavens declare the handiwork of God!” According to St. Paul’s words in the book of Romans, “All of creation cries out there is a God!” (Rom. 1:18-20). Every morning of my life, I’ve gone to the window and once again the sun has come up. Birds arrive from the north each year in late fall. Since I don’t live in Alaska, the sun always sets around 8pm during daylight savings time in South Florida. How is it that the BRILLIANT minds of the world can’t settle on a reasonable explanation as to why this happens? Seriously, every child will say “OK” when told that Jesus made it happen. But as we age and battle our sin issues and reject a relationship with an unseen God, it becomes impossible to say “OK” anymore. That would mean we are living in opposition to the One who created it all. Consequently, the great scientists of our day scramble to make sense of it all. They discount any “Greater Power” above their own in order to give an answer that basically says, “It just happened.” After the countless miracles that Jesus had performed, the “Great MINDS” of His day said, “We want a sign from heaven!” In other words, is Jesus really the Son of God? If they were asking me today I’d have to respond by saying, “Just LOOK Around, Jesus Is Everywhere!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so done with it all this AM! A long time ago, according to science, I gave up my reasonability by accepting You as my Lord and Savior. It’s fine with me. I’ll let you fill in my “stupid” gaps. I’m happy to be Your servant. Amen
