Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
1 Samuel 3:10
The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
As a young boy, Samuel stayed in the temple with the priest, Eli, and his family. One night the Lord spoke to Samuel, but the boy didn’t recognize the voice. Finally Samuel was instructed by Eli, and when the voice came again he simply responded by saying, “Speak Lord, I’m listening.”
After Samuel said he’d listen to the Lord’s voice, he heard the direction from the Lord that God wanted to give him. How many times is God wanting to speak to us but we’re not listening? Better yet, how many times do we pray by talking, talking, and more talking to God about all of our trouble but fail to wait for His response? The Bible says, “For GOD does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it” (Job 33:14). The issue boils down to you and me LISTENING. Today, when something seems a little different, instead of walking away stop and say, “Speak Lord, I’m listening.” After that, “JUST LISTEN!”
I’m pretty sure that most who read this are thinking, “It’s not that easy.” But it probably is. So I will “JUST LISTEN” today. Amen
