Just Listen
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Exodus 18:24
Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.
O-bservation:
Moses had come to a situation that was just about as bad as the Red Sea. He was holding on to all of the leadership in the country without releasing portions of it to anyone else. People were standing in an endless line all day long to speak to him and get his judgment on a matter. When his father-in-law, Jethro, came to visit him, the old man told Moses he was going to wear himself out. Moses listened to his father-in-laws wise advise and did what he said.
A-pplication:
Have you ever met a person who just dominates the room? I mean they talk the whole time you’re with them, and no one else gets a word in edgewise. I’ve actually been with some people like that. They are so good at what they’re saying that I want them to keep talking. Yet everyone needs a break. Even the best communicators need to listen to someone else occasionally. That’s what Moses did. He was at an emotional breaking point, and maybe didn’t even realize it. He finally opened up and listened to someone he trusted, and everything changed for the better. I’m not saying to listen to just anybody. But I’m saying God Has someone with great advice coming your way shortly. Be ready and “Just Listen.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to state for the record this AM that I’m ready for input. Whoever You choose to bring my way, I’m ready to “Just Listen.” Amen
