Just Hangin
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
O-bservation:
St. Paul made it very clear in this passage that it’s important that you choose the right people to be friends with on a regular basis. Because he said, “Bad company corrupts good behavior!”
A-pplication:
The Apostle was now probably in his early fifties, and I can tell you that is plenty of time to learn enough about life to make the call he made here. He had witnessed for over thirty years the life of Jewish legalism and what it demanded in the life of young people. Then he came to Christ, still in his thirties, and from both sides, he knew that “Bad Company Corrupts Good Character!” You’ve heard me say in this post in the past that the gravitational pull is the biggest assistant to the law of aging. It pulls the man or woman to the earth in time. But it’s also true that sin is like gravity. It keeps pulling a good person down. When that good man or woman is in an arena of “Bad Company,” the pull is devastating! Next time you’re on the phone with a friend, and you ask them what they’re doing, watch out if they respond by saying, “Just Hangin.” Because you usually don’t “Just Hang” with people of high character. Those kinds of people keep you reaching higher. They don’t pull you lower.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me this AM to choose friends wisely. Help me be blessed by them and help me be a blessing to them as well. Amen
