Just BE Careful
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Numbers 12:1
Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.
O-bservation:
Racism isn’t just real today. Here in this passage, Aaron and Miriam, the brother and sister of Moses, are speaking against him because he married a black Ethiopian woman. Their actions angered God. Aaron and Miriam in particular were taught a costly lesson.
A-pplication:
Aaron and Miriam could have spoken against Moses even if he had married a Jewish woman, and God would still have disciplined them because the sin they committed was speaking against God’s anointed servant. This is difficult for me to preach because I realize some will think it is self-serving since I’m a spiritual leader. Yet we read so many times in Scripture of specific instances when, with words or actions, a person attacks the anointed of the Lord in a given event and they are reprimanded by the Lord. The offices men and women hold that are ordered of the Lord are anointed themselves. So whenever a man or woman holds that office, anyone speaking against them is coming against the office they hold. The lesson here is simply, “Just BE Careful.” Words aren’t just heard by we earthlings, they are heard and recorded in heaven. If there’s a problem with a leader, let God handle it. For you and me, we should “Just BE Careful.” And … pray a lot.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help, I will keep my thoughts to myself when it comes to a certain individual who holds an anointed office of the Lord. Help me to “Just BE Careful.” Amen
