Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
In prior verses, we read of the story of Jesus’ transfiguration. Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him to the top of a mountain, and there Jesus was transfigured. In other words, His appearance changed. Immediately Moses and Elijah from history appeared and were seen speaking with Jesus. While the Disciples were watching these events unfold, the voice of God said from heaven, “This is My Son, I love Him, listen to what He says!” In an instant Elijah and Moses were gone, and when the Disciples looked up, they saw … “Only Jesus.”
If you only had one person in history to stand with you, who would you choose? Let’s say you received really bad news last night and the case is hopeless. If you could talk to just one individual for an “Infusion of HOPE,” who would that be? What if you were imprisoned in solitary confinement and they had thrown away the key. Is there anyone who could possibly hear your cry and rescue you? My answer is always … “Only Jesus.” Oh sure, I’d love to tell my wife and kids. I’d love to call my father, if he were still alive. And of course I’d love to call a friend. But, compared to every other relationship I have on the planet, I ONLY have ONE FRIEND who could actually be all I need in every situation … “Only Jesus.”
This AM I am reminded, one more time, that “Only Jesus” can satisfy my soul. Thank You Lord. Amen
