Jesus Will Show Up

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 6:20

But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”

O-bservation:

Jesus’ Disciples had boarded a boat to row across the lake to Capernaum when a violent storm erupted. Suddenly they looked up and were startled to see Jesus walking on the water toward them. Jesus said, “It’s me, don’t be afraid.”

A-pplication:

Let’s begin with this assumption: when “Followers of Jesus” are threatened in any way with life’s storms, “Jesus Will Show Up!” There is, however, an interesting follow-up to this assurance. Often Jesus shows up at the height of a person’s storm and they’re more shocked that Jesus is there to HELP them than they are that the storm is about to DESTROY them. Take a look back on your life and try to find a time when Jesus didn’t show up for you. If you’re like me, the times you thought He didn’t were the times you later found out Jesus was working things out for your benefit down the road. King David admitted that he had never seen the righteous forsaken, ever (Psalm 37:25). St. Paul the Apostle wrote, “… in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28b). So whatever relationship has gone sideways or financial investment has gone south, or whatever it may be that is bigger than you are … REMEMBER … “Jesus Will Show Up!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m headed to work fully assured that You will show up for me! Amen

  1. When I look back into my life, I see how Jesus has planned it, how he has turned my ways around to good when I was lost, and how He still leads me to my final destination. Sometimes I ask myself if I will use what I learned here in Heaven. Will I speak Spanish, as I learned it so late in life and do not use it so much here? (I know that I will speak French, because of my mother.)
