Jacob And Jesus

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 49:10

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.

O-bservation:

Just before Jacob died, he brought all of his sons before him and individually blessed them. When it came time for him to bless his son Judah, he prophesied that the leadership of Israel would come from his lineage, and eventually the Messiah. In effect, Jacob prophesied that Jesus would come from his son Judah’s line in time.

A-pplication:

The Holy Bible is the #1 Best Selling Book in the history of humankind. One of the reasons for this would be this particular story. If you study a little deeper, an old man named Jacob prophesied over one of his 12 sons that this son’s, Judah’s, lineage, would some 1,700 (circa) years later produce Jesus, the “Holy One Of God.” How unlikely is that? Think about it. We’re talking about an old man in primitive days. Because he’s near death he probably hasn’t bathed in days. There is limited sanitation and everything in the mud house smells, and yet it’s a Holy moment.  When his sons gather around him to hear his blessing, he simply states that this son Judah will produce the Messiah one day. Guess what? 1,700 years later it HAPPENED! Whenever you start thinking that God’s promises won’t work for you, just remember “Jacob To Jesus.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I TOTALLY BELIEVE WHATEVER YOU TELL ME TODAY AND EVERY DAY! Amen
