Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho—and she lives among the Israelites to this day.
Rahab had kept the spies that Moses sent in to spy out the Promised Land, namely Jericho. She was a prostitute and decided to help the men from Jericho. They told her that when they came back to conquer they would spare her and her family, and they did.
When I read this verse I always think of this line, “It’s The Little Things That Make Big Things Happen!” The reason I say this is because this prostitute helped make the promises given to Abraham happen for the people of Israel. That was a span of approximately 600 years! But then, if you fast forward another 1,400 or so years, you have Matthew including this same woman, Rahab the prostitute, as one of the foremothers of Jesus Christ, the Son Of God (Matthew 1:5)!! Here’s my point. Just say YES to Jesus all of the time. You never know when your YES will change the course of history. Because as this story shows, “It’s The Little Things That Make Big Things Happen!”
As I was writing this AM, I decided that with Your help, no matter how challenging it may be, I’ll keep saying YES when You call me. Amen
