It’s Not Enough To Make The Devil Your Servant
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Judges 1:28
When Israel became strong, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor but never drove them out completely.
O-bservation:
God had made a promise to Abraham that one day not only would his offspring be like the sands of the seashore, but his offspring would have a promised land. It was nearly 700 years before that happened, but it happened! Once Joshua had conquered the territory God had called a promised land, the Israelites turned their foes into their slaves but did not do away with them. They made their enemies their slaves, just like the Egyptians had done to them. But God had called them to drive them out completely.
A-pplication:
All of us have an enemy that would like to destroy our soul in hell. Yet too many times, we’re content to keep the enemy near in order to serve our own needs. But any type of forced labor is unjust. The Israelites could have taken the Canaanites out because the scripture says they were strong, but instead, they kept their enemy around to serve them. They didn’t pay them. They forced them. If you’ve battled alcohol, don’t keep it around. If you’ve battled gluttony, don’t buy stuff for guests when they come over, knowing you will eat it when no one is looking. If you’ve struggled with lusts in your life, don’t have a stash of porn hidden while all the while knowing you will in time yield. NO! If it’s an enemy, get rid of it once and for all. “It’s Not Enough To Make The Devil Your Servant!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, once again, I want to address any enemy of my soul and say and act with emphasis that sin shall in no way have reign over me. I will continue to destroy anything that comes between You and me with Your help. Amen
