Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
These are the words of St. Paul to the Church at Rome. As bad as they thought things were, he wanted them to know, “It’s Not As Bad As You Think.” Just Like in the days of Elijah, when God confronted him after he had destroyed the prophets of Baal and was running for his life. Elijah said, “I’m the only prophet left in the world.” God said to him, “I have seven thousand who have not bowed their knee to Baal.” Paul said, “There’s a remnant of people today who have been chosen by grace. Don’t give up!”
Let me try and be as clear as I possibly can. As bad as you think things are around you, “It’s Not As Bad As You Think.” Perhaps in your context of Christian living you have a narrative that is really tough to face. But for every bad thing, God also has a good report available. I can certainly tell you that when I don’t think things can get any worse I’ll be invited to a closed door meeting with a group of leaders, and they will tell me of a miracle breakthrough that has just occurred and we all leave the room rejoicing. You can throw your hands in the air and quit, or you can believe today that because of God’s work of grace both here and abroad, “It’s Not As Bad As You Think!”
Thank you for reminding me this AM that “It’s Not As Bad As I Sometimes Think It Is.” Help me to keep looking up when others are reminding me to look down. There’s always hope when I have my eyes on YOU! Amen
