It’s Hard To Hear A Word From The Lord If You Haven’t Spent Time With The Lord

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Jeremiah 23:18

But which of them has stood in the council of the Lord to see or to hear his word? Who has listened and heard his word?

O-bservation:

Through the “Weeping Prophet” Jeremiah, we hear him rail against the phony prophets and pastors of Israel. In fact, he called them liars earlier in the text. Here he asks, “How can they prophesy God’s word if they’ve never stood in His presence and heard His counsel?”

A-pplication:

Seriously, it is not my intent to rail against anyone. But to be quite honest, I tremble as I see what is happening across the church landscape in North America. The copying of other preacher’s sermons and ideas is staggering. The need for big business and big leadership over big brokenness and big weeping for the lost, and most of all for God’s sheep, is appalling. Don’t get me wrong, whenever I get to pointing fingers I realize there are four pointing right back at me. Please pray for me as well. Somewhere this statement must be discussed. “It’s Hard To Hear A Word From The Lord If You Haven’t Spent Time With The Lord.” This was Jeremiah’s dilemma and he paid dearly for it. I’m asking the Lord this AM, “Am I willing to pay the price?” Pray for me. Please.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help I’ll pay the price, but I don’t really know what that means! I sure love You though. Amen
