S-cripture:

Esther 4:14a

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish.

O-bservation:

These are the words of Queen Esther’s uncle, Mordecai, when he had asked her to go to the king on the Jews behalf. She came back at him with the idea of how hard it is to see the king. At that point Esther’s uncle made it clear that it was her choice whether or not she would help her people out. But, he said, the Jewish people will be saved one way or another. If you choose not to help, you and your fathers’ family will perish. It’s your choice.

A-pplication:

Make no mistake, God’s plan will always go forward with or without us. Here is a story where the most elevated Jewish woman in history to that point for some reason responded as though she was above the issue. If she had refused, her uncle would have had to find someone else to spare the Jewish people from genocide. He quickly let her know that the Jews would be rescued, but she would die. God’s plan would move forward. Immediately she changed her mind. She CHOSE to help. We are always at a disadvantage in the world as Christ followers, but we always seem to win. No matter how many are martyred or betrayed in some way, we just keep winning. God loves all people, and in some cases He’s chosen some to win. I know it’s hard, but in the end “It’s Always Our Choice When It Comes To Winning.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m ready to win. I know it’s hard sometimes, but that’s the price I’m ready to pay. I just want to win. Amen
