Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
2 Corinthians 9:5
So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given.
Paul, the Apostle, had been collecting offerings from the Gentile churches to help the mother church in Jerusalem, which had suffered greatly. He said the Macedonians were actually poverty-stricken, yet they gave amazing offerings for the mother church. Now he reminds the Church at Corinth that he is sending some of the Macedonian Christians to collect the offering they had promised.
In the work of the Lord, “It’s Always About The Money.” Jesus said there were one of two masters that every person will eventually have to choose. Either money will be one’s master, or Jesus will be one’s master. There are many “Jesus People” who have a hard time parting with their money. Yet giving is the main signal that the giver’s master is Jesus and not money. So of all the churches Paul had founded, the church at Corinth probably had the most money. However, they had reneged on the promise, and Paul was telling them he was sending people from Macedonia to pick up what they had pledged. Paul had no other choice, because, “It’s Always About The Money” if the church of Jesus is to move forward. Remember that others gave so that you and I might have faith. We must carry on the mission by being generous. Because “It’s Always About The Money.”
I love You, dear Lord. What’s mine is Yours, and it will always be that way. Amen
