It Can Happen At Any Moment
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Genesis 29:6
Then Jacob asked them, “Is he well?” “Yes, he is,” they said, “and here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep.”
O-bservation:
Jacob’s mother, Rebecca, had grown weary with the Hittite women that her son Esau had married. She had devised a very deceitful scheme with her son Jacob to steal his older brother’s birthright. When it was accomplished, the older brother Esau said, “As soon as my father dies, I will kill my brother Jacob for what he has done.” Rebecca knew this and sent Jacob away to Harran to live with her brother and find a wife there. When Jacob arrived in Harran, he asked some of the shepherds if they knew Laban, his uncle. They said, “Yes, we do. In fact, here comes his daughter Rachel now!” He helped Rachel water her sheep, and then Rachel took him to meet her father. Laban had the young man move in with them and called him his flesh and blood.
A-pplication:
I know that’s a lot of background to bring up the point I want to make this AM, but here’s the point. Jacob’s mother had sent Jacob to Harran to live with her brother and find a wife among the women of her homeland. I doubt she thought that he would marry her nieces there, but as soon as Jacob arrived, he met Laban’s employees and asked if they knew Laban. They said they knew him and then said, “And here comes his daughter Rachel now!” How unlikely is this story? It all happened so fast, and the rest is history. Please remember this AM that when you are purposeful in seeking the will of God, “It Can Happen At Any Moment!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
As I move toward this brand new day, I am purposeful to find and do Your will. I’m ready for it to happen at any moment! Amen
