Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
After Jesus spoke to His disciples (apostles) about forgiving people who had hurt them, they immediately replied, “Increase Our Faith.” Why? Because Jesus had told them that even if a person had sinned against them seven times in one day and had come back to them to ask forgiveness, they (the apostles) must forgive them.
It’s not surprising to me that when Jesus set the limits on forgiving people, what He was saying was, “There are no limits!” We, as “Jesus Followers,” have no option but to forgive those who have hurt us. I do believe that the Lord gives more grace to those who have been deeply hurt by someone else (James 4:6). The Lord knows that this kind of forgiveness is possible but must be practiced daily by His Followers for it to become natural. To the carnal-minded person, the first thought is always, “But what about me?” In time, through the working of the Spirit in us, we can say, “But what about the other person?” In other words, our heart goes out to the one who is the offender and is lost rather than when we used to ask for ourselves first. Yes! This is the Christian ideal. God has called us to forgive others, PERIOD! With this as our mission, given to us by our Lord, we have only one response, “Increase Our Faith!”
This AM, I’m asking You to “Increase My Faith.” Through the years You have helped me forgive others to the point that it’s ALMOST natural, but I must admit there are times when it’s just not natural. So once again, Lord, I ask, “Please, Increase My Faith.” Amen
