In The Presence Of YOUR Enemies

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Samuel 27:7

David lived in Philistine territory a year and four months.

O-bservation:

This is an amazing story, because David had killed so many Philistines even early on in his career. Yet here we see the leader, King Achish of Gath, a major tribe of Philistines, allowing David to live among his people for a year and four months to escape the craziness of King Saul of Israel!

A-pplication:

It was David who wrote the 23rd Psalm toward the end of his life. In verse 5a he said to the Lord, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” I’ve often wondered if David was remembering the time that King Achish of Gath (a Philistine enemy) had allowed him to live with his best soldiers and their families for a year and four months. During that time, there was no taunting by the king and his associates. There was no bullying, bragging, or intimidation that we know of. For one year and four months the man who would be king lived with an archenemy in total peace and protection. Isn’t our God great? If God did it for David, surely He will do it for you! Today I’m praying for YOU! I’m praying that our great God will give you total peace and protection while “In The Presence Of YOUR Enemies.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m praying for my friend who is reading this right now. I pray that they would know peace and protection “In The Presence Of Their Enemies!” Amen
