I Only Want To Finish The Race

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 20:24

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

O-bservation:

St. Paul knew, as he was heading to Jerusalem in his pursuit of Christ, that he would face great hardship in whatever life he had left. Yet he insisted that his life was worth nothing to him personally and he said, “I Only Want To Finish The Race.”

A-pplication:

The race Paul was referring to was his endless desire to live for Jesus and fulfill the mission the Lord had placed on his heart years before. Nothing else mattered. It’s always good to check the race we’re running. Is it simply for personal gain? Is it to build a huge brand here on earth? Or, is it to please the Lord in everything we do? If your answer is the latter, then like the Great Apostle you too can say, “I Only Want To Finish The Race.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

There are so many things that scream for my attention, and some of them have nothing to do with “The Race” you’ve called me to run. Help me this AM to finish my race. Amen
