I Do The Same Thing Today

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 14:36

People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

O-bservation:

This story of Jesus in Gennesaret follows the story of Jesus walking on the water and Peter stepping out of the boat to follow Him. Of course Peter began to sink when he took his eyes off of Jesus, but Jesus reached down and pulled him up to safety. Once into Gennesaret, people who were sick began following Jesus and wanted to just touch the hem of His garment in order to be healed.

A-pplication:

The tassels on a Rabbi’s garment represent the Word and authority of God. They were there to remind every Jewish man or woman that the law was their authority. The people had heard that this Rabbi, known as Jesus, also possessed a gift of healing. One woman had an issue of blood for twelve years and had spent everything she had on cures, but to no avail. When she reached for the tassels on the hem of Jesus’ garment she was falling on the Word of God. It worked. She was instantly healed. In my life I’ve always reached for the Word of God! Whenever I’ve struggled in any way, I’ve always turned to God’s authority. I can’t reach the hem of Jesus’ garment, but His actual Word is the authority. This story of God’s intervention in people’s lives two thousand years ago is not a thing of the past. “I Do The Same Thing Today.” So do millions of others.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so thankful for Your Word. I will lean on it and reach for it, today and every day! Amen
