Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
One of the richest Kings to ever live in history was King David of Israel. In a moment of personal revelation as to how great his Heavenly Father is, he cries “I Am Poor And Needy.”
The worth of the gold in Solomon’s Temple alone was in the $194 Billion range in today’s dollars! Not including the silver!! His father, David, gave the largest single offering to make it happen. For David to say to the Lord that he was “Poor And Needy” seems ludicrous. Yet David wasn’t speaking of cash in this passage. He was speaking in sheer comparisons. He was speaking of the awesome infiniteness of his God in comparison to his puny littleness. Perhaps this one statement is what made David “a man after God’s own heart.” He actually got it! “God is great, I’m not!” Once we GET IT, we’ll be able to say with emphasis, “I Am Poor And Needy!”
I have nothing more to say this AM except “I Am Poor And Needy!” Amen
