His Great Mercy
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Daniel 9:18
Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.
O-bservation:
Daniel prayed this prayer at the beginning of the rule and reign of Darius the Mede. This was the third king Daniel had served under during the Israelis’ enslavement in Babylon. In the closing of this prayer of repentance on behalf of his people, Daniel prayed, “It’s not because of our righteousness that we’re asking for help, but it’s because of Your great mercy!”
A-pplication:
Too often, if we’re not careful, I fear we may be like the Pharisee who went into the temple to pray and told the Lord how great he was. The other man beat on his chest and said, “Lord be merciful to me a sinner” (Lk. 18:10). Jesus accepted the prayer of the man who confessed he was a sinner. Whenever we approach the throne of grace, we must remember that it’s because of “His Great Mercy” that we even have life. The one offering that Jesus will always accept is, “Lord, I am a sinner, please forgive me.” I know that we all believe in the grace of our God, but I say if it is by His grace we are saved, it’s also by His grace that we are mindful of how small we are in the presence of the Almighty. It’s never through our righteousness that we are able to approach our great God. It’s only by “His Great Mercy” that we have access this AM.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I want to thank You for Your great mercy. It’s is because of that mercy that I have access into Your throne room today or any day! Amen

May I see myself as God sees me: Righteous in Jesus Christ, as in fact I am a sinner! Amen!🙏🏾
