Heaven On My Mind
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
O-bservation:
St. Paul spent the entirety of this chapter impressing upon the lives of believers everywhere to break free from the chains of their past and live like people who have found freedom in Jesus. One of the ways he promoted this was by directing us to release our minds from this temporary place known as earth and to begin thinking and living as one who has, “Heaven On My Mind.”
A-pplication:
Certainly, nothing is more difficult for any of us than to release our constant thought life from this present earth and way of living. Every day, the continual thinking has to do with: What am I going to say to my children? How am I going to make it financially? Where am I going with my future business plans? Are my plans going to fail? Do I have a proper strategy to finish my plans? Will our marriage weather the storms? Is my health failing? All of these questions are concerned with this temporary place called earth. Here the Apostle directs us to set our thought life on things above (Heaven) and not on earthly things! Yet as has already been mentioned, the earth is what we think we know. If, however, we continue in devotion to the Lord through prayer and scripture consumption, in time, our affections move from HERE to THERE. As you finish this short devo this AM, pray the prayer me, “Oh, Lord, I desire Heaven On My Mind!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I will repeat it, I desire, “Heaven On My Mind!” Amen
