Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
In this chapter, St. Paul discussed the law and how very difficult he found it to try and submit to the law in order to find victory. He said, “What I want to do I don’t do, and what I don’t want to do I do.” He was so conflicted. Finally, he said, “What a wretched man I am. Who will rescue me from this body that is going to die?”
“Have You Ever Felt This Way?” Seriously, you’re trying to do the right thing but end up doing the wrong thing? You want victory but keep scoring in the defeat range? I promise you, some days I actually say what the Apostle said, “What a wretched man I am!” I really don’t think that’s what God wants coming from my mouth or yours. We need to get the conversation off of us and onto Jesus. That’s where Paul found his solution from the way he was feeling and confessing. He knew his limitations, and he knew that some of them would never improve, but it was then that he said, “Now thanks be unto God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” That’s what I want to say today and every day. When I can’t get past the wretchedness of my failures, I will throw it all on Jesus, who brings me the victory every time. He is the one who brings me Deliverance!
Some days I wake up feeling like I’m just wretched! But through you, I am free from all of my failure. Today I give you the praise and the glory and the Thanksgiving for delivering me from it all! Amen
