Have You Ever Felt Like That Before?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 123:4

We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.

O-bservation:

The Psalmist, in his desperation, cried to God to have mercy on him and his people. He said that those who opposed them had ridiculed them to no end, and had shown them great contempt. His blame was directed at the proud and arrogant among them.

A-pplication:

“Have You Ever Felt Like That Before?” Here you are, doing your absolute best to stay the course in the midst of your own storm, and instead of encouragement you’re ridiculed and looked down upon by self-righteous, arrogant people. If not, that’s exactly what the Psalmist was experiencing. Often, for those who follow Jesus, we are pressed to stand between the fray. We hold the hands of polarized folks and take the heat from both sides while trying to steady the ship. The eternal benefits of such willingness are too numerous to discuss in this short devo; however, I can tell you it’s worth it. The scripture reminds us when focusing on Jesus, “For the JOY set before him he endured the cross (Heb. 12:2b). The victory is out there for you, but before you get there you will face some cross experiences. “Have You Ever Felt Like That Before?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m ready again today. I’m headed for the JOY, but there are some arrogant and proud accusers in my path. With Your help, I’ll make it through. Amen
